Whether you are wanting to feel less stressed and anxious, be more present in life, manage depression, form new habits, improve productivity and efficiency at work, sleep better and/or no longer be at the mercy of your thoughts, our courses can help.

Our structured meditation courses are offered to the general public and are accessible for people living in Gisborne, Woodend, Ballan, Bacchus Marsh, Melton, Macedon Ranges, Mt Macedon and Sunbury. The courses are based on science and research and relevant to contemporary life. We currently offer a 6 week Learn to Meditate course and the internationally recognised 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course in Gisborne.

About Alana Smith

Alana is a passionate and dedicated teacher and
practitioner of yoga, meditation and mindfulness. She was drawn to these practices – what she describes as life’s essential tools – in her early 20s when struggling with anxiety, depression and stress. Since experiencing the benefits of these practices firsthand, Alana has developed a real interest in teaching people how to meditate and be mindful so that they can live healthier, happier and more meaningful lives.

Alana has taught yoga and body balance in a range of community settings since 2012/2013, as well as 6-week Learn to Meditate courses and/or Introduction to Mindfulness workshops through Melbourne Meditation Centre in Berwick and Camberwell since 2014, and in Preston and Gisborne through Melbourne Mindfulness Foundation and Mind Body Health – Macedon Ranges since 2015.

In 2015 she decided to sign up for the internationally recognised 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course developed by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn and his team in 1979 because of the course’s impressive evidence base and emphasis on practicing meditation for a 45 minute period each day during the course. Fascinated by the MBSR course’s ability to help her manage stress and anxiety and relate to life’s challenges in a lighter, more curious and accepting way,  she undertook Level 1 study in Mindfulness Based Interventions through the Mindfulness Training Institute of Australasia in 2016 and taught her first MBSR course in 2016. Alana is currently undertaking Level 2 study in Mindfulness Based Interventions and looks forward to continuing to teach the MBSR course in 2017.

When Alana isn’t teaching or meditating, she works in community development and communications, bakes, reads, hikes, pats dogs and spends time with friends and family. She is also a big advocate for ethical clothing and consumerism, and is passionate about building socially inclusive and connected communities.
